Golden Nugget Partnering With Detroit City FC

The Michigan iGaming industry continues to be extremely competitive, and it is also an industry that has seen plenty of growth since January.

With that in mind, Golden Nugget Online Gaming just announced a new partnership in the state of Michigan.

On Tuesday, Golden Nugget announced a partnership with Detroit City FC, a popular soccer club in the state. Soccer is not a major sport in the US, but professional teams continue to see plenty of support at the local levels.

Through this deal, GoldenNuggetCasino.com is the exclusive online gaming partner of the soccer team. Even though these deals typically focus on just sports betting, full iGaming is included.

Golden Nugget is a big name in the US iGaming industry, and it has plenty of experience in both sports betting and casino gambling. This operator has struggled to gain market share in Michigan, and it is looking for any possible help that is available.

Through this deal, GNOG will sponsor the official training jersey of both the men’s and women’s teams. Being able to be featured on teams of both genders is another bonus that comes with this partnership.

GNOG will also work with the DCFC to create new VIP experiences that will seek to get the local community engaged with the team. These two partners will look to create new and exciting social media content to help grow the partnership as well as the following for each company.

Golden Nugget is currently the 8th largest online casino brand in the state and the 11th largest sports betting operator. With a market share of less than 4 percent in each platform, GNOG could no longer sit back and hope for things to change.

Still No Betting on DCFC

Despite entering into a partnership with Golden Nugget Online Gaming, there won’t be any betting on Detroit City Football Club matches anytime soon. This new partnership could push things in the right direction, but this is something that has not yet been discussed by lawmakers.

The Michigan Gaming Control Board has approved wagering on Major League Soccer and the United Soccer League, two of the biggest soccer leagues in the US. With the DCFC playing on the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA), it could be a while before betting on the team is available.

Someone will have to request to approve the NISA as a betting market with the Michigan Gaming Control Board, and that has not happened yet. Look for Golden Nugget to make this request in the coming months as it will want to bring more attention to the partnership.

The DCFC were founded all the way back in 2012, but it wasn’t until last summer that they became a professional club. The first season was ultimately wiped out by the COVID-19 pandemic, but the club has proven that it could become a power.

In June, the DCFC clinched a regular-season NISA title, and that could set them up for future success. This team has already built up a massive following, and that is another reason that Golden Nugget wanted to get involved.
